Cargo traffic of Russia’s Vladivostok port jumps 33% in 2017
VLADIVOSTOK, Jan 12 (PRIME) -- The cargo traffic of the Commercial Port of Vladivostok, a unit of Russia’s Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO), jumped 33% to 7.5 million tonnes in 2017, setting a record for the whole 120-year history of the port’s operations, the port said in a statement on Friday.
The container cargo traffic soared 42% to 467,940 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), handling of general cargoes went up 43% to 2.99 million tonnes, and the traffic of cars and machinery surged 52% to 37,800 units.
In 2017, the port optimized its property, increased capacity of storage facilities, upgraded infrastructure, and bought 24 units of reloading equipment, the port said.
